Q:     Our neighbor says he is a cousin to a guy named Rick Scott - who used to play       drums for Alabama.  I thought Mark Herndon was their drummer.

A:      Herndon took over as drummer in 1979. Bennettt Vartanian was the group's original drummer and was replaced by Jackie Owen in 1976, who was replaced by Rick Scott that same year, who was replaced by Herndon.
