Q & A
March 8th, 2012
QUESTION: I heard the radio folks talking about Tammy Wynette's tombstone being changed. Do you know anything about that?
ANSWER: Tammy Wynette's name has reportedly been changed on her tomb at Nashville's Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum, where she was laid to rest in 1998. The name on the tomb was recently changed from "Tammy Wynette" to "Virginia W. Richardson." Wynette's given name was Virginia Wynette Pugh. At the time of her death, her husband's name was George Richey; his birth name was Richardson. According to a spokesperson, the name was changed at the request of the family.

"Q & A" is a by-product of our weekly "Country Music Classics" newsletter. NO - it does NOT replace the weekly newsletter--it is simply an addition--due to the large number of questions received each week that I do not have room for in the weekly newsletter. Subscribers receive BOTH the weekly newsletter and the daily Q & A---because I do not maintain two separate mailing lists. If you wish to unsubscribe- send a blank email to:
