Q & A
March , 22nd, 2012
QUESTION: Who were the members of the singing group the Kimberlys that recorded with Waylon Jennings years ago?
ANSWER: The Kimberlys were a family act—consisting of two brothers, Harold Dean and Carl Gene Gay, who married sisters, Verna Marie and Vera Louise. The foursome originally called themselves "The Gay's" and performed on The Louisiana Hayride. They changed their name to "Kimberlys" when they began recording with Waylon Jennings. At last report, they were still performing in Las Vegas. Any of our subscribers have any updated info on them?

This day in 1969 - - Sonny James' single "Only The Lonely" went to #1. It was his 29th charted song and his 11th number one. The Capitol Records single stayed in the # one slot for three weeks and on the charts for 16 weeks.

On U Tube under The Kimberlys is the album they made with Waylon in 1969. Also it said that Harold passed away a couple of years ago. I met them in 1964-5 when they were playing a night club in Idaho Falls Idaho. Got to spend some time with them during those day's. What a great group and nice people. Trying to find the three records they made on their own with no luck. Anyone know anything? dancolclaser@aol.com
