                  Q  &  A

March 1st, 2012

QUESTION:   I bought a copy of Jim Reeves "Am I Losing You" as soon as it came out in 1960. My dad says that record was on the radio years before that. Is that true?

ANSWER:     Reeves' original version of "Am I Losing You" peaked at # 3 in 1957. He re-recorded the song in 1960 and the second version topped out at # 8.

On this day in  1956 - Ray Price "The Cherokee Cowboy" recorded "Crazy Arms" at the Bradley Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Steel Guitar legend Ralph Mooney wrote the song, and the Columbia single charted in May and spent almost five months at the top of the chart. This was Ray's first #1 record, and has been chosen as a Grammy Hall of Fame recording.

"Q & A" is a by-product of our weekly "Country Music Classics" newsletter. NO - it does NOT replace the weekly newsletter--it is simply an addition--due to the large number of questions received each week that I do not have room for in the weekly newsletter. Subscribers receive BOTH the weekly newsletter and the daily Q & A---because I do not maintain two separate mailing lists.  If you wish to unsubscribe- send a blank email to:

IF YOU DO UNSUBSCRIBE....YOU WILL BE UNSUBSCRIBING FROM BOTH THE WEEKLY "COUNTRY MUSIC CLASSICS" AND THE DAILY "Q & A."
