It might seem perverse to ask an AI chatbot about the validity of recent warnings about the AI apocalypse, because if chatbots are capable of annihilating humanity, why should we trust what they tell us? |
Of course, the models that most AI engineers seem to be most worried about are not the ones that are currently available to consumers. But one might presume that the companies that make chatbots could easily coach existing models to tell the average consumer a kinder gentler story, one that would temper alarm. Or, if their motives are to alarm the public for some kind of economic gain, they might do the opposite. |
