QUESTION: I still have the 45 recording of Jerry Reed's "Alabama Wild Man" that I bought in 1972. My dad says that record was on the radio before that time. Is that true?
ANSWER: Reed's original recording of "Alabama Wild Man" peaked at # 48 in 1968. He re-recorded the song in 1972 and the second version peaked at # 22.
Elvis Presley scored a # one on the song in 1981.
