BIG FROG 104'S HOT NEWZ FROM NASHVILLE

October 26, 2010

» Speak & You Shall Find: Notice to all former Taylor Swift flames: She has a message for you, and it's called Speak Now. The highly anticipated 14-track album landed Monday (10/25), and the liner notes include a disclaimer. "P.S. To all the boys, who inspired this album, you should've known ;)." While Swift isn't naming names, capital letters in the lyrics spell out specific clues. "A lot of these songs are about waiting until it's too late to say how you feel," Swift says. "That may not be what the song is about, but it's what the song is. [In the lyrics] there are all these confessions almost like open letters or entries from a journal." The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, People and others are feverishly unlocking Swift's secrets with speculation about Taylor Lautner ("Back To December") and John Mayer ("Dear John") first and foremost. Us magazine even dedicated an entire issue to the release, which is on newsstands now (learn more here). In other Swift news, she rang in the street date online by performing during MTV's multi-network streaming event Speak Now: Taylor Swift Live from New York City. Learn more about the album below.

» This Is Gonna Take All Night: Other than a Twitter addiction, there isn't much that keeps Blake Shelton up at night. But the anticipation of becoming the Grand Ole Opry's newest member had him tossing and turning in advance of Saturday's (10/23) induction. "Last night I was laying in a hotel room at 4am (evidence here), and I finally figured out the best way to describe what it feels like to perform the Opry," Shelton said during his induction speech. "This is the ultimate stage ... and [when I] stand in this circle, I get the same feeling [of awe] as when I meet one of my heroes. To me, the Grand Ole Opry is an artist, and I'm very proud to be one of its songs." After buddy Trace Adkins presented him with the Opry Member Award, Shelton made his membership official by performing "Home." Get a full recap here.

» Aussie Rules Football: Though he hails from Down Under, Keith Urban will be celebrating Thanksgiving stateside by performing during the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints matchup at Cowboys Stadium. The halftime concert will kick off the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign. "I'm really honored to be a part of this great tradition and great partnership between the Dallas Cowboys and the Salvation Army," Urban says. "It's going to be amazing playing in Cowboys Stadium in that environment." A chance to win a trip to the game is being offered online. Register and learn more here.

» Domestic, Light & Bold: Almost a year to the date after playing to a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden, Dierks Bentley returned to the Big Apple last week for his four-day New York City club tour. Guests including the Del McCoury Band supported Bentley each night in small venues across the city. "This entire year has been about following my heart musically," Bentley says. "Getting the opportunity to be in New York in the Fall, playing with my friends [is] a really cool way to take everything we've done this year and pick it apart and focus on each different element of the music for an entire night." Closing night highlights in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood included the Punch Brothers backing Bentley on bluegrass covers of George Strait's "All My Ex's Live In Texas," Pearl Jam's "Just Breathe" and Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell." Read a review here.

» Be Hall You Can Be: Don Williams and the late Jimmy Dean were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday night (10/24), and several contemporary artists were on hand for the celebration. Trace Adkins and the Jordanaires sang Dean's self-penned 1961 smash "Big Bad John." In honor of Williams, Chris Young performed "I Believe In You," Alison Krauss sang "You're Just A Country Boy" and Joey+Rory played "Amanda."

» Even Later: The Late Show With David Letterman audience will get double doses of Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts when they perform the online series Live On Letterman Nov. 3 and Nov. 15, respectively. The webcasts will follow the taping of their performances on Late Show With David Letterman and can be streamed live or on demand here and at VEVO.com.

» Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn: Jack Ingram is taking his Acoustic Motel webisodes on the road with club dates beginning Nov. 4 in Atlanta. In the weekly series' latest installment he covers Paramore's "The Only Exception." "The whole Acoustic Motel idea is a tribute to all the time I spend on the road writing songs, usually in a motel room," Ingram says. "With these new videos I get to play some old favorites, or new songs that I just wrote and want to test out. [Also] it's nice to surprise people [with the covers]." Get caught up here and see the tour itinerary here.

» Pranks For The Memories: It was a pranking battle between openers Little Big Town and Randy Montana at the close of Sugarland's Incredible Machine tour last week. Captured in Montana's weekly "Van Cam" web series, LBT punked the pre-recorded message announcing Montana's slot, and Kristian Bush interrupted the set to get Montana's autograph on an oversized baby picture. Montana got the group back by dressing the young son of hardcore Alabama fans Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild in a Tennessee Vols onesie and sitting with him in the front row during their set. Watch all the action here.

» In Case You Missed It: Friday's (10/22) Today show hosted Sugarland, who performed their latest single "Little Miss" as well as "Settlin'" (watch here). The Judds also appeared on Fox & Friends to plug their tour The Last Encore (watch here).

Taylor Swift Speak Now
For her third release, Swift is the sole writer on all 14 tracks. "These songs are made up of words I didn't say when the moment was right in front of me," Swift writes in the liner notes. "Each is written with a specific person in mind telling them what I meant to tell them in person." While she won't reveal who each song is about, seemingly random uppercase letters in the lyrics offer clues. The Target exclusive Deluxe Edition features additional tracks "Ours," "If This Was A Movie," "Super Man" as well as acoustic versions of "Back To December," "Haunted" and "Mine." The lead single's music video and a behind-the-scenes feature about the piece are also included. Swift co-produced with Nathan Chapman, who also has producer credits on Swift's self-titled debut and Fearless. Buy the standard version here, the Deluxe here and the vinyl here.
