Why are some people always cold...while others are sweating?

Your body has a built-in thermostat—and it's fascinating. ͏͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏      ͏

Your Body Is Constantly Regulating Temperature

Ever notice one person reaches for a sweater while another opens the window?

It's easy to joke that someone "runs hot" or "runs cold," but your body temperature is actually managed by an incredible system working around the clock.

Deep inside your brain is a small region called the hypothalamus. Think of it as your body's thermostat.

It constantly receives information from your skin, muscles, blood vessels, and internal organs.

If you're getting too warm...

Your body increases blood flow to your skin and starts producing sweat to help cool you down.

If you're getting too cold...

Blood vessels near your skin narrow to conserve heat, and your muscles may even begin to shiver, creating tiny contractions that generate warmth.

Many things can influence how warm or cold you feel—including body size, muscle mass, activity level, hydration, hormones, room temperature, and even stress.

That's why two people sitting in the exact same room can have completely different comfort levels.

Your body isn't being dramatic.

It's simply responding to the information it's receiving.
