If you want a stronger core, doing more crunches isn’t necessarily the answer.
Your core’s real job is to stabilize your body and protect your spine while you move. That’s why I’m a big fan of isometric exercises like planks. Instead of repeatedly bending your spine, you’re teaching the muscles around your midsection to brace, resist movement, and stay strong under tension.
So I put together a quick 3-minute plank workout you can follow along with.
You’ll work through three different plank positions for 45 seconds each, with short breaks in between. Each variation changes your position slightly, forcing your core, shoulders, and surrounding stabilizers to work in a different way.
It’s only three minutes, but if you’re keeping everything tight and using good form, you’ll feel it.

Use it as a quick standalone core workout or add it to the end of your regular training.
