Hi Bestie,
Before you make a single cut, there's one quick step that can make the rest of your quilting project go much more smoothly.
It's called checking the grain.
It might sound like a small detail, but fabric that's slightly off-grain can lead to:
✓ Blocks that don't line up quite right
✓ Pieces that stretch during piecing
✓ Borders that wave when they should lay flat
✓ Extra trimming, adjusting, and frustration
The good news?
It only takes about a minute to fix.

Before You Cut, Do This:
🪡 Fold your fabric selvage to selvage.
✨ Smooth the fabric flat.
📐 Check that the fold hangs straight without twisting.
✂️ Make any adjustments before cutting.
That's it.
A few extra moments at the cutting table can save hours of troubleshooting later, and help your quilt come together more accurately from the very first block.

Whether you're working on your first quilt or your fiftieth, good results often come from simple habits like this one.
