QUESTION:    My dad used to sing the George Strait song" If You Ain't Lovin' – You Ain't Livin" all the time. His brother kept saying that another singer had a hit on that song years before George Strait. Is that true?

 

 

ANSWER        The song scored a # 2 hit for Faron Young in 1955 before George Strait took it to # 1 in 1988.

THIS WEEK IN 1959:  Faron Young had his 28^th charted song. "Country Girl" came on the charts July 20^th, 1959 and made it to number one, where it stayed for four weeks. It was also Faron's 3^rd number one.
