Q:   I love the song "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You." Do you know who wrote that song and who had the hit?


 

A:    The song was written by Hugh Moffatt and Pete Sebert and scored a number 14 hit for Joe Sun in 1978, a number 86 for Brian Collins in 1978, and a number one for Dolly Parton in 1980.

TODAY IN 1959:  Jim Reeves' "He'll Have To Go" (written by Audrey and Joe Allison) came on the country music charts and  became his 26th charted song and his 5th number one. The RCA Victor single stayed in the top slot for 14 weeks and on the charts for 34 weeks.
