BIG FROG 104'S HOT NEWZ FROM NASHVILLE

August 6, 2010

» Calling All Plumbers: "Overwhelming demand and an unfortunate leak" led Taylor Swift's record company to rush the release of her new single "Mine" to radio and iTunes. Originally scheduled to land Aug. 16, the early offering from her first new album since 2008 came out Wednesday (8/4), and the result wasn't exactly a surprise. Swift was abroad when she first heard that "Mine" was already the No. 1 download on iTunes. "I landed in Japan and got 20 texts and looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes," Swift tweeted Wednesday (8/4). She's playing the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka and Tokyo this weekend and earned a 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Best Female Video nomination for "Fifteen" this week, as well. Her new album Speak Now is out Oct. 25 – assuming there are no more leaks. Until then, you can purchase "Mine" here.

» Mine Shift: Speaking of Taylor, the super-sneaky star apparently taped her first-ever performance of "Mine" during June's CMA Music Festival, and the footage is set to air Sept. 1 during ABC-TV's Country's Night To Rock special. Never mentioned or billed as a performer during the event, Swift staged the private show for fans in a Nashville studio. Elsewhere on the upcoming special: Tim McGraw hosts; Lady Antebellum give a behind-the-scenes tour; Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Uncle Kracker and Kid Rock are featured during club shows; and, of course, lots of footage from country's biggest stars on the big stage at Nashville's LP Field football stadium.

» House Calls: With several gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums under his belt, you can bet Keith Urban can afford a bigger space to record his next project. But for his new album, he's returned to a tiny Leipers Fork, TN home studio outside Nashville to recapture the magic of previous sessions. "The entire place consists of a tracking room the size of a bedroom, a control room the size of a bathroom and a closet/kitchen that doubles as [an] 'acoustic guitar recording room,'" a blogger wrote on Urban's website. "Why record in such a small place? Probably because 'Who Wouldn't Want To Be Me,' 'You Look Good In My Shirt' and most of Golden Road were recorded here." Read the full blog and see pictures from the sessions here.

» Saturday Night Alive: Expect to hear major Brad Paisley guitar shredding when he releases his double-disc hits collection Hits Alive Nov. 2. "To answer your questions," Paisley tweeted Wednesday (8/4), "my album [features] 22 tracks, 12 recorded live in concert with long guitar solos." The first CD will feature the original studio cuts including the current single "Anything Like Me," and the second has the live cuts. Details here.

» Faith, Hope & Love: Tide's Loads Of Hope ambassador Faith Hill will headline a free Aug. 24 New Orleans concert commemorating the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. "As a Mississippi native, I have witnessed the damage — both physical and emotional — that Hurricane Katrina inflicted on the Gulf Coast," Hill says. "Since then, I have been a champion of the work Tide does to restore a sense of hope and normalcy to those affected by disaster through providing a basic necessity — clean clothing." The LOH initiative provides free laundry services to those in need. Concert passes will be available through radio stations in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, LA, Biloxi, MS, and Jackson, MS. Details here.

» Fire Truckin': The Randy Rogers Band blazed a new trail while recording their upcoming album Burning The Day. The sessions, which included the new single "Too Late For Goodbye," were done in Nashville with renowned producer Paul Worley (Lady A, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Dixie Chicks). "We were kind of worried about recording in Nashville because of all the distractions like the bars, the nightlife and all our friends who live here," frontman Rogers tells us. "But we actually managed to stay out of trouble. We were all very professional about it. We rented a house so we were within walking distance to the studio, [and] working for Paul the first time, we wanted to impress him." Rogers says the band will tour heavily in support of the album, which hits stores Aug. 24. Pre-order here.

» Valet Provided: The all-new season of CMT's Invitation Only will feature private concerts by Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts. Each episode has the stars playing their most popular hits and taking questions from the audience. Lambert's episode is the series premiere Aug. 23, followed by Chesney (9/27), Keith (10/8) and Rascal Flatts (11/15). Details here.
