BIG FROG 104'S HOT NEWZ FROM NASHVILLE

August 3, 2010

» Walk Star: Despite breaking his right heel 48 miles from the finish line, Jimmy Wayne completed the 1,700-mile Meet Me Halfway walk for homeless teens at Phoenix's HomeBase Youth Services Sunday (8/1). "I was literally on my last leg," Wayne told us Sunday (8/1). "[I was] coming down this hill [and] I was in so much pain. I ended up walking 43 miles on this broken foot. The last five miles, I walked in a boot. It was excruciating." Several hundred MMH supporters and a marching band encouraged him to push past the pain. "I really don't know how to put it into words," Wayne said. "It was really inspiring to see all those people walking. When I go back and look at the video content I'm going to realize how overwhelming it was." Wayne will continue to raise awareness when he returns to Nashville and hopes that his effort wasn't in vain. "It's one step at a time," he said. "We just have to keep on pushing. It can't stop here, that's for sure." Watch the presentation video, including a Wayne speech and homeless youth testimonies, here.

» Alphabet Soup: Quick, explain the difference between the ACMs and CMAs. Yeah, us neither. And it's about to get worse. The people behind the Teen Choice Awards will premiere a new fan-voted country awards show in December. FOX-TV will broadcast the two-hour American Country Awards (ACAs) live from Las Vegas Dec. 6. That's just after NASCAR's Cup Series Championship Week (the top 10 drivers' banquet is Dec. 3) and smack in the middle of National Finals Rodeo. Expect cowboy hats. ACA awards categories will include Artist, Album, Touring Artist, Single and Music Video by a Breakthrough Artist. Nominees and voting information, as well as host(s), performers and presenters are TBA.

» Ball Is In The Air: The full-length, eight-minute edit of Kenny Chesney's "The Boys Of Fall" music video premiered on ESPN.com Monday (8/1). A four-minute edit also aired during ESPN-TV's SportsCenter before noon and 2pm ET. All other media outlets will carry the full version featuring appearances by New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, Brett Favre and others Tuesday (8/3). Watch here.

» Grand Ole Grind: Newlywed Carrie Underwood is back at work after her Tahitian honeymoon as she performed the Tuesday Night Opry (7/27), Friday's (7/30) Today show and at golf's Greenbrier Classic Saturday (7/31) with Brad Paisley. According to People, Mrs. Mike Fisher told the Opry audience she was a little worried her voice would be rusty after enjoying "a wonderful month." Then Underwood fielded questions about married life and performed a three-song set of "Cowboy Casanova," "Before He Cheats" and "Undo It" during her Today show appearance. "[Married life] is a lot like dating life," she told the show's Matt Lauer. "My husband's working with kids at his hockey school, and I'm here!" Follow the links to see the video.

» Think Fast: Josh Turner's three-year-old son Hampton is showing an unexpected interest in marine biology. During a Fourth of July celebration, the boy impressed attendees with his knowledge of deep-sea creatures. "Most everybody sitting around the picnic table was 50 or older, and Hampton was at the end of the table talking about narwhals and sea lions and all this other kind of stuff," Turner says. "And we're like, 'We don't even know what a narwhal is!' It was funny [watching him educate] everyone on the animals of the Arctic."

» Homegrown: Founders Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp announced today via webcast that Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope For America will be staged Oct. 2 at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Nelson, Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews will headline the all-day music and food festival. "This [silver] anniversary concert is a chance for everyone to join with Farm Aid to support the family farmers who are growing hope for America, through the good food they produce, the economies they build and their care for the soil and water," Nelson said. Other artists are TBA, and the concert will air live on DirecTV. Details here.
