They promised there wouldn't be anything like it, and Rascal Flatts delivered as the group kicked off their Nothing Like This Tour to an estimated 17,000 fans in Raleigh Friday (6/25). "We hope to take our fans on a chronological musical journey of the last 10 years and aim to squeeze in the most music we've ever done in a live show," bassist Jay DeMarcus says. And "squeeze" they did, as the band's action-packed set included pyrotechnics and confetti blasts along with their hits, a medley of gospel songs and classic rock covers of Boston, the Eagles, Journey and Kansas. "I don't think they've ever sounded better, and oh, my gosh - they were in great shape," our insider tells us. "They kept it high-energy, going from hit to hit, and put new spins on them. They did a cool version of 'Summer Nights' where openers Chris Young and Kellie Pickler came onstage and each sang a line with them." 
Headliners Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban helped Manhattan, KS become the largest city in the state at the Country Stampede festival over the weekend. Approximately 150,000 fans camped out for the four-day fest to enjoy more than 20 artists across two stages at Tuttle Creek State Park. "We had several acts that were really impressive," festival president and general manager Wayne Rouse told us Monday (6/28). "The headliners were obviously the driving force, but Billy Currington and Darius Rucker did a fantastic job." Rouse also shared that Brad Paisley will headline next year's Stampede June 23-26. Carrie Underwood celebrated a few of her last days as a single lady with a VIP bachelorette party in Las Vegas Friday (6/25). According to People magazine, Underwood wore a "Bride-To-Be" sash as she danced the night away with girlfriends at Sin City's LAVO. The all-star concert CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From The Gulf Coast has been postponed to July 11 because of potentially dangerous surf conditions from Tropical Storm Alex. "Nobody hates this more than I do but I guess, as the song says, 'It's hard to reason with hurricane season,'" Buffett says. According to Mobile/Pensacola's WKRG-TV, officials worried storm swells would make the foundation for the stage unstable. Tickets for the show featuring Buffett, Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney and others will be honored for the new date. CMT reports network executives were working late Monday to determine the possibility of airing the July 11 show. Details 
Trace Adkins' debut album on Toby Keith's label Show Dog-Universal will hit stores Aug. 17. "There's an excitement surrounding this whole new chapter in our lives," Adkins says, "and it's reflected in the work I've done on this record. The musicians I brought together are longtime friends, and it doesn't get much better than that. I had a great time making it ... and I think that shows in the way it sounds." Titled Cowboy's Back In Town, the 11-track collection includes single "This Ain't No Love Song." Labelmates Trailer Choir are also featured on "Don't Mind If I Don't." The new Sugarland album titled The Incredible Machine, due Oct. 19, will feature upcoming single "Stuck Like Glue." "[It's] just plain, unashamed, Sugar-fun," Jennifer Nettles says of the song. "It sticks in your brain; no-pun intended. I can't wait for it to get out there so we can play it live in our show. We've been sitting on our hands to not play it live until it was released!" The first to hear the duo's new track will likely be fans in Albuquerque July 29, as the single hits radio July 26.
Towering just over 6 feet 5 inches, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley shouldn't be scared of a friendly basketball scrimmage with Tim McGraw. The sport is a McGraw tour tradition and he expects everyone on the road to play, but Kelley instead opted to be a Southern Voice tour benchwarmer. "He made fun of me for not ever wanting to play basketball with him," Kelley says. "He busted me pretty hard about it." One road tradition Kelley hasn't missed out on is McGraw's shirt giveaway. "He has a tradition of giving a shirt to his opening act," Kelley says. "I thought he was kidding at first, but his wardrobe person said that it's just something he does. One day, he came out and brought Dave [Haywood] and me each a shirt of his. I wonder how that started. I wonder if it was a new artist and he was like, 'You have bad style. Here's one of my shirts.'" For daughter Kendyl, country dad Jason Aldean has two personalities. "She calls me 'Daddy Aldean' whenever I have my hat on," Aldean says of his two-year-old, who doesn't quite understand his fame. "I don't think she's really put it together yet [because] anytime else, I'm just daddy." Daddy Aldean just broke an attendance record at Gulf Shores, AL's The Amphitheater at the Wharf, where 9,301 fans packed the venue. The Wharf's record was previously held by Kenny Chesney, who drew 9,720 concertgoers last August.
Jimmy Wayne is nearing the end of his 1,600-mile Meet Me Halfway walk to Phoenix for homeless teens. Roughly 60 miles from the Arizona state line, Wayne is battling triple-digit temperatures to reach his destination by the end of July. Wayne says, "When I'm out there in the [dry] desert, it really doesn't feel like I'm walking in 100 degrees. Back home in the South, it's the humidity that slows you down. The first sign that I'm getting dehydrated is when I get chapped lips." Wayne walks in five-mile increments until he reaches 20 miles each day, and takes 20-minute water breaks in between to maximize his time on foot. Learn more and follow Wayne on his journey west
