BIG FROG 104'S HOT NEWZ FROM NASHVILLE

Big Frog 104 Country News
November 2, 2010

» The Rap On Jason: Anyone with a few bills in their pocket can join Jason Aldean's party this week, but the guest list to be on the My Kind Of Party album was pretty tight. "I narrowed the [duet partner] down to two people," Aldean says of "Don't You Wanna Stay." "Carrie Underwood was one of them, and [the other was] Kelly Clarkson. I'm a fan of both of their voices ... but they're both really different. Kelly [has a] really raspy, soul-type thing, while Carrie's got stupid pipes, too, but hers are a little cleaner. [With Kelly] not really being in the country genre, I thought it was a little more of a long shot, which ended up not being the case." We're pretty sure that by "stupid" Aldean means "better than good." Elsewhere, he enlisted "Chicken And Biscuits" singer Colt Ford and newcomer Brantley Gilbert to co-write the rap-inspired "Dirt Road Anthem." "The demo was even faster, so we slowed it down and made it to where it would kind of fit what we do a little better. Even though it's still fast, I kind of found my little niche. It turned out to be one of my favorite songs on the album." Read more about the 15-track record below.

» The NeverEnding Story: Speaking of Jason and Kelly, they're going to duet during the 44th Annual CMA Awards. Martina McBride and ABC-TV personalities JoAnna Garcia and Ty Pennington will present during the Nov. 10 telecast. Rodney Atkins will present pre-telecast categories including Video of the Year. The CMAs air live next Wednesday (11/10) at 8pm ET on ABC-TV.

» Playing The Parts: Brad Paisley's live show played a heavy hand in developing Tuesday's (11/2) Hits Alive double-disc compilation, featuring the single "Anything Like Me." When it came time to sequence the collection, Paisley didn't want to list the songs in chronological order, citing there would be too many ballads back-to-back. "I always feel like albums need to flow," Paisley says. "On the [second disc] live record, we start with 'Water.' That's what we start with [on tour] now. It seems like you can tell who I am and how I've changed by listening to the songs." Read more on the 25-track set below.

» Judds The Two Of Us: Joining Why Not? With Shania Twain, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is adding to its country programming with the television series The Judds. Premiering next year, the one-hour show follows the duo as they prepare for their first tour in a decade. "After 25 years of touring, recording and singing the music we love, we are beyond excited to begin this new adventure together and share it with the fans," Wynonna and Naomi say. "To have this opportunity is amazing, and OWN is the perfect home for us." The network will debut on what is now the Discovery Health Channel Jan. 1. Details here.

» Dish Now: Speculation continues about the people who inspired the songs on Taylor Swift's Speak Now album. During Monday's (11/1) Ellen DeGeneres Show, the host grilled Swift about "Dear John" (Mayer?) and whether she's currently in a relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. "When I was 12 and I started writing songs, I was writing songs about my life," Swift said. "Just because more people are now interested in the subject matter of these songs, I'm still going to continue write about my life, and I guess people are going to continue to speculate about it, and I'm going to continue to never tell them." » Nothing Like This: "The biggest accomplishment of our entire personal or professional career is being a part of this hospital," Gary LeVox said Friday (10/29) as the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital announced the Rascal Flatts Surgery Center. Named to recognize the group's $3 million in donations to the hospital over the last six years, the facility also includes a specialized pediatric radiology suite. "There are no words to adequately describe what it feels like to see that sign unveiled," Jay DeMarcus added. "Gary said it [best], 'If you leave anything behind, that sure is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.'" Joe Don Rooney continued, "Our intent from day one was just to raise some money and to create some awareness for this wonderful hospital, and it has turned out to be a journey that I don't think we've ever dreamed would come this far." The trio capped the event by entertaining patients at a Halloween party, during which they performed and delivered treats room-to-room. They'll host a private Nashville dinner and concert Nov. 4 to benefit the hospital. Details here.

» Dawn Patrol: Carrie Underwood's inner fantasy nerd is showing with the news that she's co-written the end title song for The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. Underwood, David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson's "Because Of You," Evanescence's "My Immortal") and Hillary Lindsey ("Jesus, Take The Wheel," Lady Antebellum's "American Honey") co-wrote "There's A Place For Us" after viewing a rough cut of the Dec. 10 movie. "The land of Narnia represents a place where the young heroes truly belong," Underwood says. "That inspired me to get together with David and Hillary and write 'There's a Place for Us,' which says that for everybody, there's a place where you're powerful and where you belong. The movie and song are about finding that place where you fit in." "There's A Place For Us" will be available through iTunes Nov. 16. View the trailer and learn more here.
