STORY BEHIND THE
SONG*

*

A lot of hit songs got started - and others were completed - during a recording
session. The Bellamy Brothers 1981 number one, "Do You Love As Good As You
Look" was one of those tunes!

As the story goes - co-writer Charlie Black was in the studio recording demos
when a rather attractive young lady walked through after which someone made a
remark that prompted the idea for "Do You Love As Good As You Look."

According to David Bellamy, he received the song in the mail from the publishing
company just before a scheduled recording session. After listening to the tape -
they decided to add the song to the list to record.

The Bellamy Brothers Warner Bros. single "Do You Love As Good As You Look" came
on the country music charts January 17th, 1981 and topped the charts on March
7th.

It was their 11th charted song and their 4th number one.

The song was written by Rory Bourke, Jerry Gillespie and Charlie Black.

The single was produced by Howard and David Bellamy and Michael Lloyd.*

AROUND OUR HOUSE.*

By: Jack Blanchard

Misty brought in a rose she grew in the yard.
It's beautiful, but it has no smell.
She calls it her Monsanto Rose.
I said, "'Monsanto Rose' sounds like a song."

We've been watching the news
and I've come to this conclusion:
If you shoot first and ask questions later
you won't get many answers.

I had a little problem today and tried to figure it out.
Like a riddle, it became an obsession and I spent an hour on it.
I took a break and explained it to Misty, and she said this:
"Soften up on the goofy stuff."

I'm for the little guy.
Although I have wealthy friends,
I wouldn't do anything to hurt them.
I think rich people do OK without my support.
I'm not running the world, so who cares what I think?
I'm always surprised when somebody does.

There are only about a dozen basic dramatic situations
in all of literature.
The rest are variations on these...
Saying the same things in different ways.

Here are a couple of pictures you might find interesting...

1964. ANOTHER LIFE:.
When this picture was taken we had no idea we'd be on major labels.
We were playing lounges all over the map
for just enough money to get to the next gig.

There's a voice in my head. It's mine.
I don't know if it's normal,
narrating everything that's going on, but I'm used to it.
I'm glad nobody else can hear it.
It's like like peeing in the pool
with an innocent smile on your face.

VIEW FROM THE FRONT PORCH

By: Stan Hitchcock*

*

*Friends and Neighbors: It wont be long before well be carving up
pumpkins...good golly Miss Molly what has happened to this Summer? I feel like
June and July must have snuck by while I wasn't lookin'. Why, Old Buck The
Collie is starting to grow out his Summer Cut hair style and get haired up for
Winter. I haven't done nearly enough fishing...just a few days up on the Upper
Mississippi River in Wisconsin back early on...a trip down to Lake Guntersville
in Aabama...a trip up to Lake Norris in East Tennessee, and the times I have
gone around here on the Cumberland...why, I'm practically Fish Deprived! Well,
fortunately Denise has her High School Class Reunion in Prairie du Chien,
Wisconsin the 30th of August...hmmmm...that means I can get my fishing buddy,
Chuck Lowrance, to come up and we can slip out on the Upper Mississippi and give
the Wisconsin fish another chance to play with us. Yessir...things are looking
up already. Like to get Chuck on one of those big Northern Pike this
time...since his only experience with the Northerns was the one that jumped into
our boat and landed in his lap last year. He now believes me when I say, "Hey,
the Fish are jumping in the boat in Wisconsin!" *
