» Marks Gets Sirius XM: Lincoln Financial Media's KSON/San Diego PD John Marks has been named Sr. Dir./Country Music Programming for Sirius XM Radio. He starts Aug. 2, will be based in Nashville and will oversee the company's five commercial-free country music channels, along with Elvis Radio, The Village, Bluegrass Junction and two Christian music channels. "We are thrilled to welcome John to the Sirius XM team," says SVP/GM Steve Blatter, to whom Marks will report. "His years of leadership, programming creativity and passion for country music will further enhance the listening experience for our millions of country subscribers."

Marks comments, "I'm eager to work on a more broad spectrum of country music through the many channels available on Sirius XM ... and looking forward to representing [our] brands of country music in the Nashville music community."

Marks has been programming KSON for more than six years and succeeds Jon Anthony, who resigned from Sirius XM July 27, 2009 and partnered with Kenny Chesney to launch the artist's NoShoesRadio.com a few weeks later. » Grantin Wishes: Former WBUL/Lexington, KY PD Mark Grantin will join KTTS/Springfield, MO as PD Monday (7/12). He succeeds Steve Kelly, who exited the station in May (CAT 5/17). Grantin left WBUL during the Clear Channel mass layoffs in 2009 (CAT 4/28/09) after more than a year-and-a-half at the station. Before that, Grantin spent seven years programming WWQM/Madison. » Up The Creek: Former Golden West Coast rep Stacy Rogers has been hired as Mgr./West Coast Promotion for Stoney Creek. She replaces Bill Lubitz, who left the label last month (CAT 6/8). Rogers spent nearly a year with Golden before the label shuttered two weeks ago (Breaking News 6/21). Prior to that, she worked the West Coast for RCA/Nashville and Midas. "Stacy has a proven track record of success in her region, and I am thrilled to add her to the great staff at Stoney Creek Records," says GM/Operations April Rider. » Do You, Lou, Feel Like I Do? Former Golden rep Lou Ramirez has joined Warner Music Nashville as Mgr./Southeast Promotion. He replaces Nine North's new hire (read below) Brooks Quigley, who exited last month (CAT 6/25). Ramirez spent 10 months handling Southeast/Southwest promotion at Golden before the label's closure last month (Breaking News 6/21) and previously served as APD/MD for KAJA/San Antonio. » Nine Lives: Former Warner Music Nashville Southeast regional Brooks Quigley has joined Nine North as Dir./Promotion SE/SW. Quigley, who left WMN two weeks ago (CAT 6/25), replaces Gabrielle Graf, who left Nine North for personal reasons and has relocated to Billings, MT. "When a person with the skills of Brooks Quigley comes along, you leap immediately," says Nine North President Larry Pareigis. » Jason On: Dreamcatcher Artist Management Mgr./Tour Publicity-Promotion Jason Henke has been upped to Dir./Creative Services. » Check Booked: The Third Annual Clay Walker Charity Classic gala raised more than $100,000 for MS patients, research and Walker's Band Against MS (BAMS) organization during last Wednesday's (6/30) Pebble Beach Resorts event. During the gala, Walker and last year's beneficiary Dr. Jerry Wolinsky presented a $50,000 check to Dr. Lauren Krupp to support her research on childhood multiple sclerosis at Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook, NY. Krupp is best known for pioneering the first National Pediatric MS Center in the U.S. Details here.

» Life Notes: Our condolences to Edgehill Music & Media Pres. David Haley, whose mother Kate Brunson Haley died last Monday (6/28). She was 92. Services were held last week. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Fund (940 CR 81, McCarley, MS 38943) or to the Animal Rescue League (5221 Greenway Dr., Jackson, MS 39204).

We also extend condolences to Craig Morgan and family following Saturday's passing (7/3) of his mother, Betty Sue Crockett, who lost her battle with cancer. A funeral will be held tomorrow (7/7) at 9am at Dickson, TN's Taylor Funeral Home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Pancreatic Cancer or to Billy's Place c/o Taylor Funeral Home (214 N. Main St. Dickson, TN 37055). Read more here.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with Taillight TV VP/Partner Chandra LaPlume-Pereira and husband Jeff Pereira, whose 22-month-old son Logan Walter Pereira died this morning (7/6). Logan and his grandmother Jeannine Pereira were in a reported pool-related accident yesterday (7/5). Jeannine remains in ICU. Funeral services for Logan will be at Nashville's Woodlawn Funeral Home Friday (7/9).

 

» Chronicle: Our condolences to the friends and family of longtime WKSR/Pulaski, TN jock Tom Pardon, who died yesterday (7/5). He was 61. Visitation is today (7/6) from 4-8pm at Pulaski's Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, with funeral services tomorrow (7/7) at 2pm at the Second Street Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to Second Street Church of Christ or the Tom Pardon Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Bank of Frankewing.
