He went by many names throughout his prolific career, but there is no doubt that there will only be one Merle Haggard.The 20-time ACM Award winner helped establish California country and the "Bakersfield sound," carving his place forever in country music history as a talented singer and unparalleled songwriter. The legend passed away on April 6, 2016, his 79th birthday. Join us as we celebrate his life and take a look back at some of the Academy's favorite moments with Merle.
