STORY BEHIND THE SONG*

*

*

"Shadows In The Moonlight" was not only a number one single for Anne Murray -
but was the first effort from the songwriting team of Rory Bourke and Charlie
Black.
According to Black, "Rory was already an established songwriter - when our
publisher Henry Hurt decided he wanted the two of us to write together. I wanted
to bring something to the table that first time we got together but about all I
had was bits and pieces of what turned out to be the chorus of "Shadows In The
Moonlight."

Rory Bourke commented," Charlie came to my house and played me part of the
chorus. So we started working on it and finished the song that afternoon."

Anne Murray's Capitol Record single "Shadows In The Moonlight" was produced by
Jim Ed Norman and entered the country music charts May 19th, 1979 and was at the
top of the list on July 21st.

It was her 23rd charted song, her 3rd number one, and was on the charts for 15
weeks.*

A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY.*

By: Jack Blanchard

To the ruling corporations and their governments, we are livestock.
Our job is to generate money, do the work, eat junk, keep our mouths shut,
and die before before we get our money out of Social Security.
Moo.

As lifetime CMA members
we get emails urging us to vote on the awards.
We don't vote because we don't know who the hell any of them are.
That's OK because they don't know who the hell we are.

Our science has produced artificial intelligence.
Why no artificial stupidity?
Oh, yeah. I forgot. Today's popular music.

Comforting news for anyone over the age of 35,
scientists have worked out
that modern pop music really is louder and does all sound the same.
Researchers in Spain used a huge archive known as the Million Song Dataset,
which breaks down audio and lyrical content into data that can be crunched,
to study pop songs from 1955 to 2010.
A team led by artificial intelligence specialist Joan Serra
at the Spanish National Research Council ran music from the last 50 years
through some complex algorithms
and found that pop songs have become intrinsically louder
and more bland in terms of the chords, melodies and types of sound used.
(Forwarded to me by our friend Ron Oates.)

In the 1970s we did "The Three Couples Tour":
with Jack Greene & Jeannie Seely,
George Jones and Tammy Wynette, and Misty Morgan and me.
Good times.

Russian newspaper Pravda actually accused the United States
of deliberately ruining Iraqi crops
by dropping mice in parachutes.

A lady pointed at my leather vest and said,
"You know a cow was murdered for that jacket?"
I said, "I didn't know there were any witnesses.
Now I'll have to kill you."

I got up today and did about a 40 minute workout before breakfast.
I feel physically and mentally better today.
My voice is not fully back to normal,
but sounds a little more like me than it has lately.

My songs are not me, or a record of my life.
They are just footprints in the sand.

First space alien: "Well, there's no intelligent life on Earth."
Second space alien, "No, but I did hear some banjo picking."

I write a lot of original humor.
I also steal some of it.
In many cases I can't remember which is which.
The phone is ringing. I'd better answer the door.

I don't drink as much as I used to.
I'm spilling more now.

19 degrees, and it is colder than a well digger's behind in the Yukon...colder
than it used to be in those woebegone days when we all had to walk to school,
snow up to our yingyangs, wearing our little hats with the ear flaps pulled down
tight to keep our little ears from freezing...uphill all the way....both
ways...10 miles going, 15 miles back...fighting off the wolves in the
woods....yes, even colder than that. ("But, Grandpa, how big were the wolves?"
Your big eyed grandchildren ask, as you fill them in on a little Ozark history
of when your were just a tot..., "Huge ones!" you answer) I'll tell you, if you
want to compete with these dang video games, you got to have a good story.

Course, the truth of the matter is, they were just ordinary sized wolves...and
the uphills weren't all that high, I guess...and, sure, it was 10 miles one way
and 15 back..but, miles weren't as long a distance in the olden times, 'bout
half as long, I reckon...uh, just down to the road to catch the school
bus....but, by golly, I did have that little hat with the ear flaps...and I
could have froze going down the driveway...and the snow was up to my little boot
tops...'cause we had to be tough in them days...yessir....tough...uh huh. And by
doggies I am still tough...why I went outside in my pajamas in this arctic
circle cold, just to snap this sunrise picture...ain't that tough?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:*

*

*

As we talk of thanksgiving, dont miss the greatest gift that you already havethe
victory from sin and death. As the apostle Paul writes of the resurrection, he
bursts forth into praise, and so should we. We have been delivered from the
power of death. The resurrection stands as the ultimate statement of God to
mankind; God is leading His people forward into victory through faith in Jesus
Christ.
